Earth Hour 2016: Daikin Vietnam continues to be a major sponsor

Earth Hour is the moment that focuses the nation’s attention on climate change. It’s the single largest mass participation event of its kind in the world. Since 2007, this one-hour event has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide In Vietnam, the 2016 Earth Hour was celebrated in various cities and provinces nationwide on Saturday, 19th March from 8:30pm – 9:30pm by turning off the lights for an hour.

Daikin Vietnam has proudly supported Earth Hour last year so we are excited to take the next step in this long-running relationship by becoming the major sponsor of Earth Hour in 2016 for the second consecutive year. At Daikin, we know the importance of creating strong and sustainable communities for the future. We are always working to reduce our impact on the environment, and we help others do the same through our innovative energy saving technology Inverter and become the first company in Vietnam to use R-32, a refrigerant with low global warming potential in its split air conditioners.

At 20:30, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, and the Electricity of Vietnam and the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam pressed a button to turn off the light in response to the 2016 Earth Hour Campaign.

According to the National Electricity Regulation Center, within 60 minutes of turning off the light and other electric equipment during the Earth Hour Campaign, 451 MW of electricity, equivalent to 730 millon VND, was saved.
